The Bristol Eastern softball team wasn’t the only one to pull off a comeback against Bristol Central on Thursday night.
It happened again on Friday night when the Lancers downed the Rams, 6-5, at Muzzy Field. The teams each celebrated their seniors, then Central jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Rams scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added single runs in the second and third frames. Mike Lorenzetti scored twice in those first three innings, and JT Clark whacked an RBI double.
Eastern picked up its first run in the top of the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning, the Lancers finally got their first hit off hard-luck Ram starter Sean Wininger. The floodgates opened, however, and Eastern scored four runs to grab a 5-4 lead. Three errors and a passed ball from Central helped. The Rams got a run back in the fifth to tie the game, 5-5.
In the top of the sixth, the Lancers took the lead when a runner scored after a third strike got past the catcher. That run was enough to give Eastern over an inexperienced Central team.
For the Lancers, Ryan Fradette, Trevor Nohilly, Jayden Churchill and Andrew Lozier each had a hit. Brayden Moore was the winning pitcher in relief.
For the Rams, Dillon Hudson was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI, Clark went 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI, and Frank Spirito was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
After a win by Central and a loss by Eastern on Friday, the Rams are 7-5 and the Lancers are 2-10.
