St. Paul girls volleyball has had some highs and lows this season.
There was a 4-0 start to the season that was erased because of the self-reported use of an eligible player. The Falcons went from on well their way to a state tournament berth to scrapping toward the postseason.
St. Paul couldn’t have picked a more emphatic way to qualify for the Class S state tournament. On Tuesday, the Falcons (8-7) beat Naugatuck, 3-1, and handed the Greyhounds (16-1) their first loss of the season. The set scores were 25-14, 25-22, 18-25, 25-22. Olivia Genovese tallied 14 kills and one ace while Greta Panke added 10 kills and four aces. Megan Fortier had five kills and a block.
St. Paul has won three straight matches since its last loss, 3-0 to Seymour on Oct. 11. The Falcons host Terryville on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
