From Waterbury to Washington, D.C.: Isaiah Wright makes NFL roster

Many dream of one day making an NFL roster and playing in the top league in the world. For Isaiah Wright, that dream came true on Saturday.

The Washington Football Team revealed its 53-man roster, and Wright’s name was on it at wide receiver. Wright took the long route to get from Temple to the NFL as an undrafted free agent. Still, Washington saw something in him and put him on the roster.

Wright has been given the No. 83 by Washington. During a practice last month, Wright was seen catching passes from Kyle Allen, and catching punts. That comes as no surprise for those who followed Wright’s college career at Temple. Wright ran for touchdowns, caught touchdowns and ran back kicks for touchdowns during his time with the Owls. He’s one of only six Temple players to eclipse 3,000 career all-purpose yards.

Washington special teams coach Nate Kaczor noted Wright’s ability in an article on The Athletic website back in late May. Hopefully the former Holy Cross and Kingswood-Oxford standout will get a chance to show what he can do. He made an NFL roster, which is a big start.
