Carmelo Anthony, Ryan Gomes take in some hoops in Bristol

What a day it must have been Saturday for AAU basketball players in Bristol. Play some basketball, then pose for photos with and get autographs from Carmelo Anthony and Ryan Gomes.

Wait, WHAT???!!!

You read that right. Anthony and Gomes were at the Bristol Sports Armory on Saturday. The Black Ops AAU program played some games against AC of Connecticut, based out of Newtown. Carmelo’s son Kiyan Anthony plays for Black Ops.

Anthony played one season at Syracuse before heading off to a very successful career in the NBA that will get him into the Naismith Hall of Fame. Syracuse didn’t play Providence in that one season, 2002-03. Providence was where Gomes made his mark in college before going on to a productive career in the NBA himself.

CT Rebound Inc., run by Waterbury native DeVonne Parker, was also at the armory. CT Rebound posted the photo included in this story. On the left is Gomes, on the right is Anthony.
