The Bristol Central indoor track and field program put together some terrific efforts at the 38th Yale Interscholastic Track Classic, a two-day event held at Yale University’s Coxe Cage.
The biggest performance of all came from the boys 4x800m relay team. The Rams won the Connecticut race in 8:08.62. That time is not only the best in Class L, but it was the fourth-best time in the country. The team was made up of co-captain Jose Ramirez, Nate DeAngelo, Austin Freve and co-captain Mark Petrosky.
Central set several school records at the Yale meet. Co-captain Kaiya Alexander finished fourth in the shot put with a school record toss of 36 feet, 7 inches. Petrosky took fifth place in the 1,000m with a school record time of 2:37.39. DeAngelo ran a school-record time of 8:58.12 in the 3000m and placed 18th.
There were also times run by the Rams that put them first or second in Class L. The boys 4×800 has the top time in Class L. The boys 4x400m relay of Ramon Ambert, Galen Hickey, Ryan Krompegal and Ramirez won the Connecticut race in 3:32.72, the top time in Class L. The girls 4x400m relay of Christine Attle, Emma Stone, Rebecca Litwinczyk and co-captain Mia Hinton finished sixth in the Connecticut race in 4:26.06, the second-fastest time in Class L.
There were also a pair of individual third place finishes for the Rams. Ramirez took third place in the 600m in 1:24.42, and Hickey was third in the long jump at 21 feet, 1 inch.
