Eastern wrestling wins B.C. Invitational

Bristol Eastern wrestling won the Bristol Central Invitational for the fifth straight year, and the 11th time overall, on Saturday. The Lancers tallied 210.5 points, 45.5 points ahead of the second place Rams, who had 165. Eastern junior Tommy Nichols (138 pounds) was named the invitational’s most outstanding wrestler, according to results posted on Connecticut Wrestling Online. The invitational was contested for the 38th time, according to Connecticut Wrestling Online.

Nichols, senior Trent Thompson (106) and sophomore Alex Marshall (152) all won their weight classes for the Lancers. Nichols pinned Xavien Reid of Warren Harding (Bridgeport) in 1:23 in the 138 final. In the 106 final, Thompson pinned Central’s Will Hamilton in 3:59. Marshall won a 9-2 decision over Ledyard’s Mason Barnett in the 152 final.

Eastern seniors Dylan Garcia (182) and Nick St. Peter (285) each claimed second place in their weight classes. Freshman Mike Raolf (99), junior Mason Lishness (120) and senior Tyler Gleifert (170) all finished in third. In the 126 third place bout, junior Aaron Morocho won a 5-1 decision over Central’s Karriem Hoe. Sophomores Ella Nichols (145) and Derion Minngia (220) both took fourth place. Juniors Treyvon Daniel (132) and Logan Meyer (195) each claimed a fifth place finish.

Central senior Jason Feto pinned Enfield’s Elijah Pelkey in 52 seconds in the 132 final to take first place. Will Hamilton (106), junior Jake Aldi (120) and junior Jakob Salinas (195) all claimed second place finishes for the Rams. Sophomore Umar Malick (145) pinned Eastern’s Ella Nichols in 2:56 to take third place. Seniors Karriem Hoe (126), Jake Leone (132) and Leo Kavanaugh (138) all claimed fourth place. Senior Colton Pelletier (113) was fifth while junior Matt Duquette (152), senior Andrew Beaucar (160) and junior Jacob Boucher (182) all took sixth place.
