Bristol Eastern boys soccer finishes unbeaten regular season with OT win

Bristol Eastern boys soccer needed overtime on Monday night to dispatch rival Bristol Central at Alumni Field.

Luke Hammer scored in overtime and the Lancers outlasted the Rams, 3-2, in a gutty game from both sides. Eastern finished the regular season unbeaten with a record of 14-0-2. Jake Woznicki scored both of the regulation goals for the Lancers. Nate DiLoreto made six saves for Eastern, according to the result reported to The Hartford Courant.

The Lancers were able to avenge one of the two ties on their ledger with the win over the Rams. Central tied Eastern, 1-1, on Oct. 7 at Bristol Central High School. The other tie was also 1-1, and it came against Lewis Mills on Sept. 24 at Alumni Field.

The Lancers finished the regular season with 53 goals, including a whole bunch from Woznicki, who is now the all-time leading goal scorer in program history. The Eastern defense, anchored in the net by DiLoreto, allowed just six goals all season, three of which came against Central.

Carson Rivoira and Adam Jones had the goals for the Rams, who finished a solid regular season with a record of 9-5-2. Danny Gaudoin had eight saves.

Both teams find out who they play, when and where, when the CIAC pairings come out on Friday.
