Adalia Malick, Springfield College soccer

The former Bristol Central standout is off to a great start in her first season with the Pride.

Malick has played in 13 of 14 games at forward and has started the last eight contests. She is third on the team in goals with five and is tied for third in both assists (3) and points (13). The first goal Malick scored in her career was the only one Springfield needed in a 1-0 victory over Endicott on Sept. 7.

Malick has had two games with a goal and an assist this season. She tallied a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win at Castleton University on Oct. 1. Malick also had a goal and an assist in a 7-0 victory at Wellesley College on Oct. 12.

Ironically, one of the players Malick is tied with for third in assists is someone very familiar to her.

Ashley Macdonald, Springfield College soccer

Macdonald, a sophomore with the Pride, is tied for third on the team in assists (3) with her former Bristol Central teammate Malick.

Macdonald has assisted on a goal in wins over UMass-Dartmouth (Sept. 12, 9-0), Mount Holyoke College (Oct. 5, 4-0) and Wellesley College (Oct. 12, 7-0). Macdonald scored her lone goal of the season in the 6-1 win over Castleton University on Oct. 1. She has two assists in the three conference games that Springfield has played.

The former Holy Cross standout has played in all five games for the Colonials (5-0) in his senior season.

Witherspoon has 18 tackles in five games, including a season-high six in a 42-33 win at Bridgewater State University on Sept. 21. He also had a pass breakup in that victory. Witherspoon, a defensive back, made a tackle or assisted on a tackle on three straight plays in the second quarter. Witherspoon had a key pass breakup on 3rd and 9 with under 11 minutes remaining in the game. The deflection forced a Bridgewater State punt, and WCSU got the ball back with a 35-33 lead and 10:28 to play in the game.
