The Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League rivals Valley Thunder and Wolcott Scrappers met on Thursday evening at Tyrrell Middle School, and it was another close one.
Valley got 6.2 innings pitched from Anthony Cappaso and two big RBI from Donny Ek in a 4-3 win over Wolcott. The Thunder improved to 5-3 while the Scrappers dropped to 6-5.
Cappaso improved to 2-0 on the season for Valley. Ek pounded out two doubles, stole a base and scored a run for the Thunder, who had six hits in the game. Ricky Parenteau walked twice and scored twice.
Brendan Clark was a perfect 3-for-3 for Wolcott with a two-run home run and run scored. Matt Warren was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Jay Palais took the loss for the Scrappers.
Valley faces a tough doubleheader on Sunday, beginning with a game against the Tri-Town Trojans at 11 a.m. at Litchfield’s Community Field. The second game is scheduled for 1 p.m. against the Terryville Black Sox at the Old Terryville High School (Harry S. Fisher Elementary School).
Wolcott hosts the Winsted Whalers on Sunday at 6 p.m. at the B.A.W. Complex.
