Blasius Chevrolet (7-1) has been rolling along in the Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League and keeping the first place Tri-Town Trojans (8-1) within their sights.
Blasius erupted for a 10-0 victory over the Naugatuck Greyhounds on Thursday at Hotchkiss Field in Prospect. It was the sixth straight win for Blasius, which has shown it can win by scoring tons of runs, or by shutting down the opposition with great pitching.
Blasius had a mix of both in the win over Naugatuck. Tim Kennedy (2-0) threw a complete game one-hitter. If it wasn’t for a Ryan Russell hit in the top of the fifth inning, Kennedy would have recorded the first no-hitter in team history. He struck out 11 and walked two in his gem.
On offense, Blasius collected 10 hits, and eight different players drove in a run. Connor Goggin, Manny Cruz and Jeff Fonti each had two hits.
Blasius plays a home doubleheader on Sunday. They play the Canton Crushers at 10 a.m., followed by the Winsted Whalers at 2:30 p.m.
