They may been in different zones, but next-door neighbors Bristol and Wolcott met in a Junior American Legion baseball clash on Monday evening at Muzzy Field.
Post 165 held a 7-2 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but Post 2 scored a run in the sixth and four in the seventh to tie the game. A run in the bottom of the eighth gave Bristol an 8-7 comeback victory over Wolcott. Post 2 (Zone 1) improved to 2-3 while Post 165 (Zone 5) dropped to 1-6. Owen Davis drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth to bring in Sean O’Neil with the winning run.
Robert Cruz (RBI) and Joe Crowley each had three hits and two runs scored for Bristol. Davis and Kaiden Dionne drove in two runs apiece and Evan Bouchard added an RBI. O’Neil singled, walked and scored twice. Joe Maglio picked up the win in relief for Post 2.
Dan Loughman had two hits, a run scored and two RBI to lead Wolcott. Matt Northrop singled twice, walked, scored a run and drove in a run. Kyle Hensel and Ethan Brissette each had a hit and two runs scored for Post 165. Chase Belisle had a single, walk, run scored and RBI while Mike Angurio and Zack Gorman each had a hit and RBI. Gavin Brissette added an RBI, and Devin Fuegen was the losing pitcher.
