Wolcott baseball seniors go out with a bang in final home game

The Wolcott baseball seniors played their final regular season home game this past Wednesday against Watertown. The Eagle seniors made sure they went out with a bang.

Wolcott pounded out 14 hits, including three homers and four doubles, in a 15-2 win over Watertown in five innings. The Eagles honored their seniors before the game, then pounded away against the Indians. Wolcott beat Naugatuck on Friday on the road to end the regular season with a record of 18-2.

Here’s what the seniors did against Watertown:

  • Trey Nastri had a grand slam, double, a run scored, and five RBI
  • Dane Hassan doubled twice, homered, scored four runs and four runs scored
  • Jeff Nicol homered, singled, scored a run and drove in two runs
  • Anthony Ligi doubled and scored a run
  • Jack Drewry had a sacrifice fly for an RBI and reached base via error twice
  • Tyler Brzankalski had a two-run single
  • Branden Casanova walked and scored a run
  • Alec Calabro walked and scored a run
  • Reece Ketchum was hitless in two at bats and started at second base
  • Brett Adams pinch hit and struck out
  • Colby Regan was a defensive replacement in right field
  • Benjamin Tapley was a defensive replacement in left field

Alex James was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI while Tom Marciano went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Jack Moore picked up the win on the mound. He threw all five innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits. Moore struck out three and walked two.

Wolcott is the top seed in the upcoming NVL Tournament and will host Sacred Heart on Monday at 3:45 p.m.
