Sarah Lawton part of another tremendous Florida SouthWestern softball team

The Florida SouthWestern State College softball team has been at the top of the national junior college rankings throughout this season. Former Holy Cross star hurler Sarah Lawton has been right in the middle of that success.

FSW is 36-1 through games played on March 19. Lawton, a sophomore, has appeared in 19 games and is 6-1 with five saves and a 1.68 ERA. She has started three games and has one complete game to her credit. Lawton has struck out 61 and walked just nine in 58.1 innings. She has yielded 17 runs (14 earned) on 42 hits.

Lawton recorded her first save of the season in a 4-2 win over Florida State College at Jacksonville on Jan. 25. She threw one inning of hitless ball and struck out a pair of batters.

Lawton claimed her first win of the season in an 8-2 victory over Miami Dade College on Feb. 5. She pitched four innings and gave up no runs on three hits. Lawton struck out one and walked one.

Lawton’s complete game came in a 7-2 win over Iowa Western Community College on March 18. She gave up two runs on three hits, struck out 11 batters, walked one and hit one.
