Kennedy baseball beats Hartford Public

Kennedy baseball scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to overtake Hartford Public 2-1 on Saturday at Waterville Park. It was the season opener for both teams.

Harold Garcia walked to lead off the sixth, then stole second base. Bryant Bonilla grounded out to drive in Garcia. Bonilla drove in the other run in the first inning when he tripled home Angel Colon. Colon singled with two outs to start the rally.

Garcia picked up the win in relief of starter Xavier Frias. Garcia pitched the last three innings, struck out six, walked one, hit a batter, and yielded just two hits. Frias tossed the first four innings. He gave up one run on three hits, struck out five, walked two, and hit a batter.

Anthony Quinones doubled for Kennedy in the win.
