Holy Cross boys swimming and diving wins fifth straight NVL title

From 2011 to 2014, Sacred Heart boys swimming and diving won four straight NVL championships. The next four NVL titles (2015-2018) belonged to Holy Cross.

On Friday, the Crusaders captured their fifth consecutive NVL title, an outcome that was expected before the season began. Holy Cross has dominated the NVL in the last five seasons, and that dominance continued on Friday in the John Reardon Pool at Kennedy High School.

Holy Cross seniors Sam Mason, Ben Bowler, Alex Ford, Chris Ford and Jack Tucker had their fingerprints all over the championship effort, according to a story written by Mark Jaffee for The Zone. The Crusaders won nine of the 11 events contested on Friday.

Next up for Holy Cross is the state meets. Diving trials and finals take place on March 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Plainville High School. The Class S trials will be held on March 9 at 3 p.m. at the Cheshire Community Pool. The Class S finals are March 11 at 6 p.m. at Wesleyan University in Middletown.
