The Bristol boys swimming and diving co-op, made up of Bristol Central, Bristol Eastern and St. Paul, put together a good postseason effort.
The co-op finished 12th in the Class LL state meet with 181 points. There were three top 10 performances for Bristol, led by sophomore Colton Litwinczyk’s eighth place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.06). The 200 medley relay of sophomore Gabriel Bartolome, Litwinczyk, freshman Mikel Palaj and junior Benjamin Stafford finished 10th (1:44.33). The 400 freestyle relay of Palaj, Stafford, Bartolome and Litwinczyk also finished 10th (3:25.91).
Here were the other finishers at the Class LL meet:
- 200 IM: Bartolome, 11th, 2:00.31; Litwinczyk, 14th, 2:03.94
- 100 breaststroke: Bartolome, 14th, 1:01.60
- 500 freestyle: Palaj, 13th, 4:57.27
- 200 freestyle: Palaj, 15th, 1:49.08
- 200 freestyle relay: Timofei Pechenin (freshman), Jake Mendocha (junior), Noah Taylor (freshman), Stafford; 15th; 1:38.86
State Open
Several Bristol swimmers competed at the Open on March 14 at Yale’s Kiphuth Exhibition Pool. Here’s where they finished:
- 100 breaststroke: Litwinczyk, 18th, 1:00.55
- 200 IM: Bartolome, 22nd, 2:02.88
- 200 medley relay: Bartolome, Litwinczyk, Pechenin, Stafford; 24th; 1:45.37
- 400 freestyle relay: Bartolome, Taylor, Stafford, Litwinczyk; 3:32.22
