Holy Cross boys soccer’s NVL run ends in tournament final

The Holy Cross boys’ soccer team got off to a slow start, but the turnaround came quick.

By the end of the regular season, the Crusaders were 11-3-2 and earned a No. 2 seed in the NVL tournament. Holy Cross won games against St. Paul and Torrington to earn a berth in the championship against top-seeded and undefeated Oxford.

The Crusaders lost the season opener, 3-1, to the Wolverines, who won 17 straight after that victory heading into the final. Oxford proved to be too much for Holy Cross again in the NVL final, claiming a 3-0 victory and a 19-0 record. The Crusaders fell to 13-4-2. Junior keeper Aiden Peterson kept his team in the game with some great saves, but the Wolverines kept on attacking and finally broke through.
