The calendar has flipped to 2019, so here’s a look at where area wrestling teams stand before the dual meets begin again on Thursday.
Bristol Eastern is off to a terrific 8-0 start and has won 44 straight dual meets, a school record. The Lancers finished second by 21 points to Danbury at Danbury’s Ryan Sabbagh Holiday Tournament this past weekend. Bristol Eastern is at Middletown on Thursday as it looks to continue its dual meet dominance.
Bristol Central (9-2) is also off to a great start in dual meet action. The Rams won the Joe Beler, Jr. Duals this past Saturday at Jonathan Law in Milford and look to ride that momentum into Thursday’s road dual meet against Berlin.
Bristol Eastern and Bristol Central will be in the same building this coming Saturday during the Bristol Central Invitational. That should be a fun day.
St. Paul has its home opener on Thursday against Oxford. The Falcons wrestled in a series of dual meets at Derby this past Saturday, and those included Thomaston/Litchfield/Holy Cross. That co-op goes up against Terryville on Thursday at Terryville.
