Southern New Hampshire University senior Ashley Elder continues to throw the shot put well and win each time she is in the event.
The former Bristol Central standout took the top spot in the shot put for the fifth consecutive time at Saturday’s Smith Pioneer Invitational in Northampton, Mass. Elder’s toss of 48 feet, 8 inches is now the mark to beat in program history, and it’s her best throw ever.
Elder finished fourth in the weight throw, and her mark of 50-1.75 is another school record and personal best. Elder has been terrific for the Penmen so far this season, and no one shouldn’t expect anything less as the winter moves along.
