Blasius Chevrolet joins the Terryville Black Sox in the American Amateur Baseball Congress Northeast World Series, which starts Aug. 9, in Braintree, Mass.
The Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League foes meet up in their first game of the World Series on Thursday at noon. Terryville went undefeated in the winner’s bracket of the Stan Musial State Tournament to clinch its berth.
Blasius had to take a tougher road after losing its first game of the Musial tournament. They won their next two games, and a change in the tournament format because of weather put Blasius in win-or-stay-home game against the Naugatuck Dogs this past Sunday.
Blasius used a mix of youth and veteran leadership to pull off a 6-4 comeback win over Naugatuck at Torrington’s Fuessenich Park. Connor Coggin homered, Paul Novakowski ripped a big two-run double, and David Sacco again provided some strong pitching.
Terryville will be playing a lot of baseball in the next couple weeks. The Black Sox are in the AABC Northeast World Series (Aug. 9-12), and they are also alive in the Tri-State playoffs. Terryville opens a best-of-three Tri-State semifinal series against the Litchfield Cowboys on Aug. 14. The games are on Aug. 14, 15 and 16. If the Black Sox were to make the Tri-State World Series, that would be Aug. 21, 22 and 23.
Blasius may have been eliminated from the Tri-State postseason, but they still have a chance to bring back a championship from the AABC Northeast World Series.
