Blasius Chevrolet has used a four-game winning streak to move into third place in the Connecticut Tri-State Baseball League after 10 games.

Blasius, 7-3, has had contributions from long-time stalwarts like Justin McCulloch, Gary Novakowski, Eric Rovinetti and Jon Conlon, but help from a younger group of Brass City high school standouts can’t be understated.

In Blasius’ most recent win, an 8-1 rout of the Bethlehem Plowboys on June 24, Holy Cross High School’s Fran Phelan, Jr., and Brian Parzyck had two hits apiece. In a 10-1 win over the Torrington Rebels on June 19, fellow Crusader Connor Coggin had three hits and two RBI while Phelan added two hits.

Blasius Chevrolet referred to the young guys on Twitter as “Baby Blasius” and even gave them their own hashtag (#BabyBlasius).

Blasius is scheduled to play the first place Tri-Town Trojans (10-1) this evening at 6 o’clock at Litchfield’s Community Field, though both teams may need an ark to reach the field with all the heavy rain that has fallen this morning (Don’t be surprised if this game and others get pushed off.)
