There were three Top 10 finishes from area athletes at the New England Interscholastic Track & Field Championship Meet on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire.

Sacred Heart junior Edward Williams finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.93. It’s impressive that Williams was able to be the fourth fastest boy in that event and earn All-New England honors given the high ankle sprain he suffered halfway through the regular season.

Williams’ head coach Tom Festa said this about Williams on Instagram:

“A month ago EJ Williams was walking around on crutches in a boot. Now he is 4th in the New England Championships. #everydayisaworkday #heartsnation” Festa wrote.

Williams also finished fourth in the same event in the State Open on June 4. He was second in Class S with a time of 14.61 seconds, just .06 off of Coventry senior Nicholas Pronovost’s winning time of 14.55.

The Bristol Central 4×100-meter relay finished fourth in the New England meet with a time of 42.81. The team is made up of senior Pat Kjornrattanawanich, senior Dathan Hickey, sophomore David Bowes and senior Nigel West. That same combination put together a school-record effort of 42.64 in a second place finish at the State Open on June 4. That same foursome is also headed to Greensboro, N.C., this week for the New Balance Track and Field Nationals. The team is still raising money via a GoFundMe account for hotels, travel, and if there’s extra, for food. Check out their GoFundMe page.

Hickey also qualified for the New Balance national meet in the long jump. He competed in the event at the New England Championships and turned in a seventh place finish at 22 feet, 6 1/4 inches.
