The Bristol Eastern baseball team finally got to play its season opener on Thursday at Plainville, and the Lancers made sure it was a blast.
Josh Nohilly highlighted a six-run sixth inning with a grand slam, and Eastern smashed its way to a 12-4 win over the Blue Devils. Mac Goulet added three hits and three RBI for the Lancers.
Jagger Duquette started for Eastern and put together a good effort. Cory Fradette and Nohilly closed the game out in relief of Duquette.
The Lancers were supposed to play Newington today, but unplayable field conditions forced the game to be postponed. Eastern is scheduled to play its home opener on Monday against Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m.
