Raven Cody reached 1,000 career points in dramatic fashion Monday night with a first quarter buzzer-beater.
Cody followed it up with a buzzer-beater from near halfcourt to end the third quarter. The shots were big in Wolcott’s 54-51 home win over Torrington.
Amazingly, Cody wasn’t the only Eagle who let a buzzer-beater fly.
Jack Drewry stunned the crowd at Torrington’s Connie Donahue Gymnasium with a halfcourt shot that beat the first half buzzer. Drewry launched a line drive that hit off the backboard and went in. Wolcott needed every basket it could get against Torrington in a game that wound up going double overtime.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, the final result didn’t go in their favor. The Red Raiders claimed an 81-74 win in double overtime. Drewry led all scorers with 25 points, including the halfcourt shot.
