Bristol Central boys take sixth at Class L indoor meet

The Bristol Central boys finished sixth overall at Thursday night’s Class L Indoor Championship Track and Field Meet at New Haven’s Floyd Little Athletic Center.
Mark Petrosky and Hunter Peterson led the Rams with Top 3 finishes. Petrosky was second in the 1600 meters and Peterson took third in the long jump. Jose Ramirez and Elijah Ortiz each had fifth place finishes, Ramirez in the 600 and Ortiz in the 55 hurdles.
The Rams also had two Top 5 finishes in relays. The 4×400 team of Pat Kjornrattanawanich, Jose Navedo and Nigel West took fourth place. The 1600 sprint medley of Ramon Ambert, West, Kjornrattanawanich and Ramirez finished in fifth.
The Kennedy boys 4×800 team of Alexander Brites, Andry Evangelista, Ivan Meraz and Kyle Hotchkiss claimed fifth place. Crosby’s Izaiah Barnes was fourth in the 55 dash.
The best girls finish came from Central’s Shy-Ann Whitten, who placed second in the high jump. Ram teammate Meghan Curtis was fourth in the 600. Bristol Eastern’s Avery Braccia was seventh in the 1000.

The Central boys also finished sixth as a team in the conference meet on Jan. 27, also at the FLAC.

Ortiz picked up the best finish for the Rams, taking second
place in the 55 hurdles. Petrosky finished third in the 1600, Peterson was fifth in the long jump, West took seventh
in the 300 dash, and Ramirez was seventh in the 600.
The 4×200 team of Kjornrattanawanich, Peterson, Navedo and
West placed fifth, as did the 4×800 group of Petrosky, Pacifico Flores, Eric
Knox and Ramirez. 
For the Central girls, Whitten tied for fifth in the high
jump and Curtis was seventh in the 600. The 4×800 relay of Curtis, Alexa
Furniss, Isabella Crandall and Paige Hinton finished sixth.
