Crosby girls basketball finished the first half of the regular season with a resounding win over Sacred Heart and an 8-2 record.
Wolcott was 5-5 over that same stretch, but you wouldn’t know it after what transpired on Friday night inside the John H. Morris Gymnasium at Wolcott High School.
The Eagles ambushed the Bulldogs, claiming an 18-5 lead after one quarter. Wolcott led 29-18 at the half, then stretched the advantage to 13 points after three quarters (42-29). The Eagles wound up with a big 50-38 victory.
It started with a good hustle play. The game’s first shot was a miss, but Wolcott’s Morgan Kiely scooped up the rebound and found Alayna Greene for a 2-0 lead. The margin stretched to 8-0, then 11-1. When Jenna Hoban beat the first quarter buzzer with an offensive rebound and bank shot, the Eagles had an 18-5 lead. Wolcott didn’t look back and picked up a big win.
Raven Cody led the Eagles with 20 points, and Tiahna Pulliam had 20 for the Bulldogs.
