The Class S girls soccer tournament is down to the final four teams, and two of them hail from this area.
St. Paul and Holy Cross took completely different paths on Saturday to reach the Class S semifinals. The Falcons, seeded fourth, needed overtime to take down No. 12 East Granby by a score of 2-1 in their quarterfinal on McPhee Field at St. Paul. The Crusaders, seeded second, blasted No. 7 Tourtellotte 8-0 at LaMoy Field on the campus of Post University. Holy Cross had an astounding 5-0 halftime lead.
St. Paul will play top-seeded Old Lyme in one semifinal on either Tuesday or Wednesday. The site and time are to be determined.
Holy Cross gets No. 11 East Hampton in the other semifinal, also on Tuesday or Wednesday. The site and time of that match are to be determined.
