Former St. Paul star Logan Marchi will be playing in a UConn football game on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The thing is, Marchi will do so wearing the uniform of the Temple Owls, starting at quarterback against the school he originally committed to. On Saturday, Marchi has a chance to show UConn what he can do.
Marchi told the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Marc Narducci that playing UConn isn’t providing extra juice for this weekend.
“I always wanted to play for my hometown school, but here I am and I love the school and bleed cherry and white,” Marchi said in the article, which was posted on the Inquirer website.
There’s also no revenge factor.
“You can’t let personal stuff get into the way and you have to go prepare and go 1-0 this week and give the team the best chance to win,” Marchi said.

Marchi threw for a career-high 321 yards in a 34-10 victory last weekend at East Carolina.
It was also a career game for former Holy Cross and Kingswood-Oxford standout Isaiah Wright. Wright caught six passes for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Wright, who was born in Waterbury, is another Connecticut player who left the Nutmeg State. He started his high school career at Holy Cross before moving on to Kingswood-Oxford, where former Crosby head coach Jason Martinez is the top guy.
Wright originally committed to Rutgers before switching to Temple. UConn had also offered Wright.
Marchi was a UConn commitment until his application was rejected less than a week before National Signing Day. Well, that was the official story. According to the New Haven Register’s Jim Fuller, sources said Marchi’s family was not contacted by the admissions department at the school. Bob Diaco had become head coach after Paul Pasqualoni was let go. Pasqualoni was head coach when Marchi was recruited.
Now Marchi runs the offense at Temple. This will be the first time Marchi has played against the Huskies. The game is at noon on ESPNews.
