There was no better result for Bristol Central boys soccer in its first match on the new turf at Bristol Central High School.
In a contest that was also under the new lights in the second half, the Rams bested neighboring Plainville 3-1 in front of a lively crowd. Josh Cordero had two goals for Central while Diego Naranjo tallied the other one.
The teams each put up a goal in quick succession in the first half, then played to a stalemate that lasted all the way through to halftime. Cordero had the lone goal for the home side in the first 40 minutes.
The tenor of the match changed in the second half when Naranjo turned around outside the box and blasted a long shot into the goal for a 2-1 Central lead. Cordero’s second goal of the evening cemented the Ram victory.
There was plenty of support for Central, with athletes from several Ram teams in the bleachers cheering the home team on.
