Bristol Seicheprey Post 2’s American Legion 19U baseball team came up big on Thursday evening in Southington.
Bristol scored a 5-1 victory over Southington and pulled even with their foe in the Zone 1 standings at 14-5. Post 2 owns the tiebreaker over Post 72 with a 2-1 record in head-to-head matchups.
Bristol scored once in the first inning, then broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the fourth. Two more runs were scored in the fifth, followed by a final run in the sixth. Kenneth Knox Jr. pitched the first 5.1 innings to claim victory, and Wes Lahey finished the final 1.2 innings to notch the save.
Post 2 had seven hits in the game. Bristol is scheduled for a Muzzy Field doubleheader this evening against Simsbury and Naugatuck, weather permitting.
