Rain may have knocked out most of Friday’s area sporting events, but Wolcott boys tennis didn’t let the wet weather dampen their quest for another undefeated regular season.
The Eagles took down Sacred Heart 8-1 at Wolcott High School to finish the regular season with a 16-0 record. Wolcott hasn’t lost a regular season team tennis match since 2013.
Next up for a dominant Wolcott squad is the NVL team tournament, which begins either Monday or Tuesday with a quarterfinal round at the higher seed. Semifinals are Wednesday or Thursday, followed by the final on Friday at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls. Next Saturday serves as the rain date for the team final. That schedule is from “The Zone“. The individual tournament begins on May 23 at Woodland. The individual competition continues on May 25 at Woodland or Fulton Park.
