The St. Paul girls basketball team defeated Sacred Heart Academy Tuesday evening at Plainville High School to capture the David T. Rybczyk Memorial Tournament title.
Senior Lizzy Cretella led the way with 21 points, was named to the All-Tournament team, and was chosen as Tournament MVP, according to a tweet from Greg Lederer of The Cheshire Herald. Fellow senior Lizzy Ferraro added 14 points in the victory, which made the Falcons 5-0 on the season. Ferraro was also named to the All-Tournament team, according to a report on the Waterbury Republican-American’s website.
Emily Sklenka and Amelia Sanchez contributed to the balanced attack with eight points each while Brigid Johndrow chipped in six. Jillian Kilmer didn’t play Tuesday after being injured in the Pomperaug game on Monday.
After a break for New Year’s, St. Paul returns to the court with three straight home games beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 5 against Ansonia.
