Southern New Hampshire University freshman Ashley Elder was named Northeast-10 Field Rookie of the Week for her efforts at Saturday’s Plymouth State University Meet.
The honor was announced on the Southern New Hamsphire University women’s indoor track and field website.
Elder, a former Bristol Central standout athlete, had top three finishes in both of her throwing events, the shot put and weight throw. Elder tossed her shot put 10.79 meters, which gave her a second place finish. She placed third overall in the weight throw after a toss of 11.25 meters.
SNHU won the Plymouth State meet, which also featured the host school and Colby-Sawyer. The Penmen don’t compete again until Saturday, Jan. 30, when they travel to the University of Southern Maine Invite in Gorham, Maine.
Elder returns to her home state on Saturday, March 26, when SNHU competes in the Wesleyan Spring Classic at Wesleyan University in Middletown.
