Chase Collegiate has a strong fall

The fall sports teams at Chase Collegiate School were able to put together some strong efforts. Here’s a little bit about what happened this fall at Chase:

Boys cross country claims title, girls finish 4th
The boys cross country team, coached by Kevin Grimes, secured the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference championship on Halloween at Bucks Hill Park in Waterbury. The boys took first place as a team while the girls finished fourth. The top runner for the boys was sophomore Dwyer Grimes, who took third place. Senior Latrell Powell finished seventh, followed by eighth place finisher Harry Harwood (8th grade) and senior Tom Brayton, who took 14th. Six PR times and four medalists helped add up to a championship for Chase. Chase edged out Watkinson by four points, 55-59.
For the girls, senior Morgan Maisto was seventh while fellow senior Lauren McDonald took ninth.

Boys soccer reaches New England semifinal
Boys soccer, coached by Joe Campos, went 9-2-2 in the regular season and earned berths in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League and New England tournaments. The HVAL tourney didn’t go as planned as Chase was eliminated by The Harvey School by a score of 4-3. Still, Chase earned a trip to the New England tourney and began play in the quarterfinals against MacDuffie, where it claimed a 2-1 win. A 6-0 loss to Hoosac in the semifinals ended Chase’s run, but can’t take away from a successful season overall.
