The Bristol Central boys soccer team is having a great season to date with a record of 8-1-2.
The Rams have gone 10 straight games without a loss. Central lost its season opener, 3-1, at Middletown on Sept. 9. The Rams’ 10-game unbeaten streak began the following Monday, Sept. 13, when they beat Plainville, 5-1, at Bristol Central High School. Back-to-back draws followed at Avon (3-3) on Sept. 17 and at home versus Newington (2-2) on Sept. 21. In the seven games since, Central hasn’t tasted defeat, or even a draw. The Rams have outscored their opponents, 22-5, during that seven-game stretch. Maloney (twice), Platt, Glastonbury, Bristol Eastern, Simsbury and Plainville have been the victims during the streak.
Central has a big group of seniors, according to its CIAC roster: Aaron Brown, Hayden Caudill, Ethan Crumrine, Tyler D’Agostino, Harlens Feliz Alcantara, Derek Guerrero, Beckett Hennessey, Umar Malick, Adam Mehdi, Mark Palma, Mitchell Peterson, Charles Pittman and Carson Rivoira.
When Central picked up its latest win, 3-1 over Maloney last Thursday, seniors had their prints all over the outcome. Pittman tallied a hat trick while D’Agostino, Palma and Hennessey each had an assist, according to a story from Jack Krampitz of The Bristol Edition. The Ram performance was so strong that the goal from Maloney didn’t happen until the final minute with the game well in hand.
Central owns some solid wins over Glastonbury (3-0 on Oct. 1) and Simsbury (2-1 on Oct. 8). The Guardians are 6-4-1 on the season while the Trojans check in at 6-3-3. The tie against Newington came against a team that is 7-2-1. The lone loss to Middletown was against a squad that is 7-1-3.
What that all adds up to is a Central boys soccer team that is having a great season. The Rams are at Lewis Mills (6-1-3) on Tuesday at 4 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. home game Thursday against Berlin (5-4-2).
