Switching from spring to summer baseball hasn’t slowed former Chase Collegiate standout Kyle Bonicki.
The left-handed hitter out of Clark University has kept up his torrid pace at the plate with the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.
Entering Saturday’s slate of games, Bonicki was tied for second in the FCBL in batting with a .404 average. He ranks among the league leaders in hits, but he also does well drawing walks (13).
For his efforts, Bonicki was chosen for the FCBL All-Star Game, which will be played on July 13 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field, home of the Worcester Bravehearts. Bonicki has been placed on the East team to avoid a conflict of interest. The coach of the West team is J.P. Pyne, the head coach of the Clark University baseball team.
It has been a great year individually for Bonicki, and he’ll get a chance to show what he can do on July 13 in Worcester. Scouts from all 30 Major League teams will be in attendance on July 13, and events will include a Scout Day, a Home Run Derby, and the All-Star Game.
