It had been a rough start to the season for Bristol Central girls volleyball.
The Rams had lost their first three matches of the season entering Monday evening’s tilt at Newington. Bristol Central hadn’t won a game in those three matches.
For one night, the Rams erased their tough start with a 3-2 win over the Newington Indians.
The win is extra special for first-year head coach Holly Willette. Willette, who was previously a head coach at St. Paul, graduated from Bristol Central High School.
Willette took over for Jennifer Broderick as head coach and inherited a young team with inexperienced players needing to take on bigger roles. The Central seniors are Kallie Clark, Elizabeth Hunter, Autumn Blasi, Taya Watson and Katherine Plourde, according to the team’s CIAC roster.
Central tries to make it two straight wins on Friday when it hosts Berlin at 6:30 p.m.
