Former St. Paul standout Logan Marchi will be suiting up for his third college in three years when he takes the field at Sacred Heart University.
Marchi left East Tennessee State University after the 2018 season. He played at Temple during the 2017 season. During the late spring, Marchi reached out to the Pioneers. He became a member of the SHU football team in the first week of July, according to a story on ctpost.com
“Our first impression is what we saw coming out of high school, good football player, very smart, seems to be a guy who can fit in, he is well-liked and respected and I look forward to working with him,” offensive coordinator Matt Gardner told Jim Fuller for the ctpost.com story.
Marchi is listed as a graduate student and is immediately eligible to play after leaving ETSU. Gardner said there will be four quarterbacks competing for the starting job, including Marchi. They are looking to replace graduated quarterback Kevin Duke. Duke played in 10 games and completed 120 of his 218 pass attempts for 1736 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Senior Grant Lowary and junior Jake Radic both saw limited playing time at quarterback in 2018 and will be competing against Marchi for the starting job.
Marchi played in six games for ETSU in 2018. He completed 55 of his 114 pass attempts for 657 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions. Marchi began the season as the starting quarterback and started the first four games. He didn’t travel with the team to its FCS playoff loss to Jacksonville State due to an injury.
