Wolcott routs Watertown for first win: The Eagles finally got in the win column, and they did it in decisive fashion against the Watertown Indians.
Wolcott won 88-45 on Friday night for its first win of the season. The Eagles improved to 1-5.
Bob White led Wolcott with 14 points while Pat Drewry added 12 points, according to a box score reported to the Republican-American. Mike Rousseau added a third player in double figures with 11 points, while Mike Polzella finished just short at nine points. Chris Harris and Ken Pond both scored eight points while Mike Tessarzik, Ryan Tumel and Devin Blier added six each in the balanced attack.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
A pair of 15’s for the Lady Eagles: The number 15 was common for the Wolcott girls basketball team in a 54-50 home loss to Torrington on Tuesday.
Megan Doubleday and Raven Cody each scored 15 points for the Eagles. Doubleday connected on a pair of 3-pointers while Cody made one.
Unfortunately for Wolcott, they lost that game and Friday’s matchup against Watertown to drop to 4-4 on the season. Cody tallied 33 points in the 56-47 loss while Doubleday added eight.
