The high school wrestling season has reached the postseason, and three local grapplers snatched individual championships at Saturday’s Berkshire-Valley meet.
Brothers Don and Anthony Shivas finished first at 220 and 285 pounds in the meet, held at Derby High School. Those names should ring a bell given both Shivas brothers play up front for the Holy Cross football team in the fall. During the winter, the Shivas brothers wrestle for the Derby/Oxford/Holy Cross co-op. The Derby co-op finished third as a team.
St. Paul finished fifth as a team. Keegan Hill won his weight class at 160 and was named the meet’s most outstanding wrestler. Dylan Bird was second at 182, Mason Pachica was fourth at 152 and Brendan Standish was fourth at 170.
David Karlak wrestled as a one-man team representing Kaynor Tech and finished third at 195.
