The Bristol Central boys cross country team emerged from Tuesday’s CCC championship meet at Manchester’s Wickham Park with another South Division title.
The Rams may not have finished off an undefeated season overall – thanks to Plainville – but their strong regular season was more than enough to claim the outright championship. Central senior Frankie Porrini III capped off a great CCC career with a first place finish in 16:32.8, nearly one minute faster than second place finisher Chase McNamara of Plainville (17:29.4). Senior Christopher Roy (third, 17:50.5) and junior Patrick Wininger (10th, 18:31.3) joined Porrini in the top 10.
“BCXC Boys are CCC South Champions💪🏽 Frankie Porrini individual champion & Chris Roy joins him on the All-Conf Team!,” tweeted coach Tamara Stafford-Kirk. “Girls stepped up to finish the season with winning record! So proud of this team❤️ Next up Frosh Champs and Class L Championship🐏”
Senior Lance Archibald was 20th (19:22.8) while sophomore Nicola DeMatteo took 30th overall/29th team placement (20:22).
The Bristol Eastern boys placed two runners in the top 10. Senior Dominic Tartarelli was seventh in 18:19.3 while senior Jack Mulcunry was ninth in 18:25.1. Sophomore Brendan Tartarelli was 21st (19:23.5), sophomore Aidan Gezelman was 23rd (19:29.5) and senior Aidan Tartarelli was 28th/27th (19:58.3).
In the girls’ race, Eastern freshman Kaelyn Gonzalez took fifth in 22:00.7. Central junior Katie Tran finished 17th in 23:28.3. Kazimiera Cavallari, Tran’s freshman teammate, claimed 23rd in 24:23.5. Lauren Ayotte, Gonzalez’s junior teammate, was 27th in 25:09.2.
