St. Paul boys lacrosse gets second straight road win, plays at home on Tuesday evening

The St. Paul boys lacrosse team can be excused for getting off to a 1-2 start this season.

The Falcons lost Connecticut High School Coaches Association all-state performers Brycen Kennedy, Christian Decker, Connor Matthews and Ryan Bogdanski to graduation. Those players were part of a large, successful senior class that departed.

St. Paul beat Holy Cross, 14-11, in the season opener on April 8. That was followed by back-to-back tough losses to East Catholic (22-2) and Northwest Catholic (20-6). The Falcons were 1-2 entering a Saturday morning road contest against Suffield-Windsor Locks. St. Paul got back on the winning track with a 15-3 victory. The Falcons were on the road again Monday night and took a 14-8 win over North Haven. St. Paul improved to 3-2 on the season.

The Falcons did return all-state performer Erik Suzio, who is a junior this season. Unlike last year’s big senior class, there are only four on the roster in 2022. They are Samuel Peruta, Matthew Walker, Cameron Fabrizio and Nicholas Dube. St. Paul is scheduled to host Western Connecticut Lacrosse Conference foe Watertown on Tuesday evening at 6 o’clock at McPhee Field.
