Waterbury-born Isaiah Wright keeps getting chances to contribute for the Washington Football Team in the NFL, and he has put some good work in for his 1-5 team.
Wright has played in five of the six games, including Sunday’s 20-19 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. He caught four passes for 25 yards and rushed once for a yard.
Wright has been used by Washington as a pass catcher and runner, along with kickoff and punt returner. In five games, Wright has 13 catches for 72 yards and three rushes for 16 yards. He has two kickoff returns for 30 yards and three punt returns for 15 yards.
Wright has also made a tackle this season, and he prevented an interception against the Cleveland Browns during Week 3 with a strong hit on a waiting defensive back.
Note: Wright wasn’t the only Waterbury man involved in Sunday’s game. Patrick Graham, the Giants’ assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, is a native of the Brass City. Graham played for and graduated from both Crosby High School and Yale University. Graham is a longtime NFL coach with 11 years of experience, according to his bio on the team website.
