Waterbury’s own Rob Paternostro has had plenty of success as a head coach in Leicester, England, and he will continue to do so professionally.
The Riders announced Monday that they have signed Paternostro through 2021. He has been the coach of the year four times, including the last two years, according to a release on the team website. The Riders are the oldest professional basketball squad in Britain and have won three titles under Paternostro in his nine seasons as coach.
“I am very pleased to make this long-term commitment to the club, and the confidence they have shown in me, and excited by the challenges ahead,” Paternostro said in the release.
Paternostro stood out as a player at Holy Cross before moving on to Southern New Hampshire University.
