The Bristol U17 team had put together a great season entering the CT Elite Baseball Association championship game Sunday against Ellington at Muzzy Field. On Sunday, that season became incredible.
Bristol walked off on Ellington, 10-0, in six innings in front of its home fans to capture the U17 championship. Matt Beaucar yielded a single hit over six innings for the victory. He improved to 5-0 on the season, and Bristol finished the COVID-altered campaign 19-2. Beaucar struck out five, walked two and hit a batter. The only hit was a Sam Wheeler single to lead off the top of the second inning.
Beaucar, Roberto Cruz, Dylan Woodsome, Tyler Martin and Dylan Woodsome helped pace the Bristol offense, which had nine hits in the game. Bristol scored three runs in the sixth inning to win by the 10-run mercy rule.
In what was likely a one-off season due to COVID-19, Bristol made the most of it and came away with a championship.
