Bristol Central puts together a strong effort at Greater Hartford Invitational

The Bristol Central outdoor track and field teams put together a strong effort at the 88th Greater Hartford Invitational this past weekend. The boys led the way with a third place finish as a team.

There was one win for the Rams, and it came from the boys 4x800m relay of Devin Flores, Jose Ramirez, Adam Jones and Austin Freve. The quartet finished the race with a time of 8:04.18.

The Central boys also had a plethora of top five finishes. Hunter Peterson finished second in the long jump (21’1″); Jose Navedo was third in the 110m hurdles (15.90); Jones was third in the 400m (51.68); Ramon Ambert was fourth in the 400m (51.82); Mark Petrosky was fifth in the 1600m (4:29.40); Nate DeAngelo was fifth in the 3200m (9:56.80); and Jakob Salinas was fifth in the javelin (144’9″). The boys 4x100m relay of Navedo, Ambert, Wilmer Rivera-Ortiz and David Bowes took fifth (45.08). Peterson rounded out the top 10 finishes with a tie for seventh in the high jump (5’10”).

There were some top eight finishes from the Central girls as well. The Ram 4x400m relay of Christine Attle, Emma Stone, Sofia Veronesi and Gabriella took fifth place (4:21.02). Gabriella Calfe finished seventh in the 400m (1:03.29), Abigail Calfe was seventh in the triple jump (33’6.5″), and Kaiya Alexander was eighth in the shot put (33’7″).
