Hector Alejandro scattered eight hits and struck out 10 batters in 6 1/3 innings to help lead Sacred Heart baseball to a 3-1 win over St. Paul on Wednesday night at Waterville Park.
Alejandro and reliver Zach LaFerriere (2/3 inning, 0 runs, 0 hits) combined to outduel the Falcon duo of Walker Sharp (5 innings, 6 hits, 3 unearned runs, 7 strikeouts, 3 walks) and Julian Thayer (1 inning, 0 hits, 2 strikeouts). Along the way, Alejandro was able to record another double-digit strikeout game.
Alejandro and LaFerriere were able to contain St. Paul freshman Ryan Daniels, something not easily done given he has four home runs already this spring.
On offense, Jesse Swartout was 2-for-3 with two RBI for Sacred Heart (2-3). Ernest McClary had two hits and a run scored while LaFerriere added a hit and a run scored. Justin Stephens scored the other run for the Hearts.
Thayer was 2-for-4 with an RBI while Ryan Parent went 2-for-3. Ethan Rembish had a hit and run scored for St. Paul (3-1).
