Former Sacred Heart teammates meet in college matchup

Former Sacred Heart boys basketball teammates Malik Petteway and Ty Flowers met up on Thursday night when Robert Morris University and Long Island University-Brooklyn played on the campus of RMU.

It wasn’t a big night for either player as the Colonials took down the Blackbirds by a score of 62-49. Petteway played 20 minutes off of the bench and scored eight points on 3-of-7 shooting. He had five rebounds, one steal, and shot 2-of-4 at the foul line.

Flowers started for LIU and played 22 minutes. He finished with three points on 1-of-8 shooting (1-of-4 on 3-pointers). Flowers added two rebounds to his totals for the day.

Petteway has played in all 28 games for RMU (14-4, 9-6 Northeast Conference) and is averaging 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in 19.6 minutes. He is first in total rebounds (153) and blocked shots (32), and he ranks second in steals (33).

Flowers has started all 27 games for LIU (12-15, 6-9 NEC) and is averaging 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in 31.4 minutes. He is shooting 46.5 percent overall, including 37.1 percent on 3-pointers. Flowers has a team-high 36 blocks and is third in steals with 33.
