Locals faring well at college basketball’s highest level

There are quite a few former local hardwood standouts who are faring well at the highest level of college basketball. Here’s a look at them:

Mustapha Heron, St. John’s

The versatile junior guard has started all 19 games for the Red Storm (15-4) and is the team’s second-highest scorer at 15.3 points per game. Heron also averages 4.9 rebounds in 31.7 minutes per contest. He is shooting a strong 44.2 percent (34-77) from three-point range, along with 76.6 percent (59-77) at the foul line.
