The annual Waterbury high school football and boys soccer jamborees take place on Saturday at Municipal Stadium’s Ray Snyder Sr. Field.
The football jamboree starts at 9 a.m. with Crosby and Kennedy matching up in the first of five 12-minute quarters that will be contested. The second quarter will be between WCA and Wilby. In the third quarter, Sacred Heart and Crosby go head to head. The fourth quarter is between Kennedy and Wilby, and the fifth quarter matches Sacred Heart and WCA.
Teams get three points for a win, one for a tie. The highest point total after five quarters wins. Least points allowed decides a tiebreaker, and if the teams are still deadlocked, they will be declared co-champions. Thank you to Crosby Football for posting the schedule on Facebook.
Boys soccer kicks off at 1 p.m. after player introductions at 12:30. As Joe Palladino wrote in a story posted on The Zone, the jamboree is World Cup style with two pools, A and B. Chase Collegiate, Crosby, Holy Cross and Kaynor Tech are in A while Kennedy, Sacred Heart, WCA and Wilby are in B. The championship match is slated for 7:15 p.m. All matches are 20 minutes in length.
